The Role:
- This is a voluntary position.
- The time commitment required is approximately 20 hours over the academic year. This time is spent preparing for and attending board meetings and visiting the school during the school day.
- The board typically meets three times a year. Meetings are often remote and take place at the end of the school day or early evening. They typically last two hours.
- The board is responsible for strategic oversight of the school, monitoring its performance and providing challenge and support.
- All governors receive training and support.
About you:
- You must be over 18.
- You do not need to have a background in education.
- You should be enthusiastic with a passion for education
- You need to be able to think strategically and be comfortable reading reports and asking questions.
- You need to be able to commit to visit the school three times a year during school hours to monitor the school in action and write a report on your findings.

We are looking for volunteers to join our friendly local governing board/academy council. This is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about education to support their local community; provide support for the school and its school leadership team and help ensure it continues to grow from strength to strength.
Victory Park Academy is an alternative provision providing full time education that supports up to 101 pupils aged 5 to 16, who have experienced difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream schools. We provide an “Opportunity for Success” and we work in partnership with the LA Inclusion; local schools; Virtual Schools and Outreach to ensure an inclusive and supportive education provision.
